Latin dance broadly refers to various ballroom and folk dances originating in Latin America with Native Latin, European, and African influences. The main categories of Latin dancing include Salsa, Mambo, Merengue, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Bachata, and Samba. Though varying in style, all of these Latin dances are unified in that they are guided by the music – the rhythm and flow of the music swaying the passion of Latin dance from energetic to sensual. The Latin dance of today not only has a rich cultural history, but is spread worldwide. The popular fitness dance, Zumba, was also influenced by Latin dance.
